Anna Dixon MP for Shipley, joined her constituents today at two Remembrance Sunday events to commemorate the sacrifice made by the brave British servicemen and women during the two world wars and later conflicts.

The Member of Parliament chose to pay her respects to the fallen at the Remembrance Parade and Service in Bingley and the Remembrance Day commemorations in Baildon.

Ms Dixon also took the opportunity to speak with local veterans and thank them for their service to protect our country.

This was Anna Dixon’s first Remembrance Sunday since being elected as the MP for Shipley in July.

The West Yorkshire MP also paid her respects earlier this week in London, laying a cross in the House of Commons’ Garden of Remembrance on behalf of the people of Shipley.

Regarding this week’s remembrance commemorations, Anna Dixon MP said:

“Remembrance is the moment we come together as a nation to honour those who have served and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms, and protect our way of life.

“It was an honour to join acts of remembrance in Shipley constituency alongside local veterans and community organisations, paying tribute to all those who have sacrificed so much for our country.

“The bravery of every man and woman who has risked their life to protect our freedom is truly incredible, and I will be forever thankful to them.

“And I am proud that the new government is working to ensure all veterans have access to the support they need in mental health, employment, housing and other areas.

“It was a privilege to march with them, uniformed groups, local and district councillors, schools and representatives of local charities and voluntary organisations in Bingley and Baildon. I would like to thank all the organisers for arranging such moving and poignant remembrance day events.

“I would also like to thank everyone who attended this weekend’s events for the respectful manner in which the community came together to pay their respects.”
