Shipley MP writes to council CEO about support for pensioners

The Member of Parliament for Shipley constituency has today released a letter she sent to the CEO of Bradford Council about the recent changes to Winter Fuel Payments.

Anna Dixon MP wrote to Lorraine O’Donnell about the council's role in supporting pensioners in her constituency this winter. 

Following a vote in Parliament in September, the Winter Fuel Allowance will now be means-tested and targeted at the most vulnerable pensioners. 

Ms Dixon strongly encouraged the council to consider using the Household Support Fund to provide better advice for those just above the threshold to qualify for Pension Credit. 

The MP also offered to help raise awareness of these services in any way I can and looked forward to working with the council to support the residents of the Shipley constituency this winter.
